![]() Prior to forming TRE, Thomas Engel spent eight (8) years as Executive Vice President, Equitable Real Estate Investment Management Inc., (Equitable/AXA) where he founded, then managed its $1.8 billion Lodging and Leisure Group. Earlier he created/co-founded three (3) lodging brands - Embassy Suites, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts and Hawthorn Suites hotels. Engel entered the lodging business following an earlier career as a brand manager at Unilever and Revlon, Inc., New York City. Engel earned an undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas and an MBA from Northwestern University. He is an adjunct professor and Vice-Chairman of the Advisory Board, Boston University's School of Hospitality Administration, Advisor to the Board of a $2.0 billion private hotel portfolio, and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps Air Corps.
James J. Flynn, Operations Jim Flynn is Senior Managing Director of the T.R. ENGEL Group. He is a recognized hotel operations and operations finance expert. He has management experience with leading chains including Omni Hotels, Guest Quarters Suite Hotels, Doubletree Hotels Corporation, Promus Hotel Corporation, Hilton Hotels Corporation and Starwood Hotels and Resorts. With Starwood, he was General Manager of the 950-room Boston Park Plaza Hotel. As Hilton's Vice President, he was Managing Director for the Boston Harbor Hotel and seven hotels and conference centers. As a Promus Hotels Senior Vice President, he supervised all Harrison Conference Centers and University Hotels. While a Doubletree Senior Vice President, he oversaw the operations of 125 hotels. Jim is a founding member of the Beacon Hotel Corporation and a graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration. Matthew S. Engel, Advisory Services and Asset Management. Matthew Engel is a Vice President of the T.R. ENGEL Group with primary responsibility for the advisory services and asset management divisions of the company. Previously, he worked as an Asset Manager at The Procaccianti Group where he was responsible for investor relations of three private equity investment funds invested in a 21-hotel/6,200-room hotel portfolio. Additional TPG responsibilities included leading underwriting due diligence/closing of a $200 M pension fund discretionary account; managing investment sale of a nine-unit/2,828-room hotel portfolio for $409M, a 401-room $53.3 M single asset transaction; and executing $420 M of first mortgage financing across 12 hotels. Earlier, Matt worked with Holiday Fengolio Fowler's New York City investment sales team where he was the lead analyst on over 20 closed investment sales deals across the retail, industrial, office, multifamily and land property sectors valued in excess of $1.2B US. Matt holds an undergraduate in Public Policy from Hamilton College, and completed advanced certification in computer science from the University of California-San Diego. Edouard A. Gremlich, Development/Operations Ed Gremlich is a Managing Director of the T.R. ENGEL Group and an experienced and accomplished international hotelier with skills in hotel finance, operations and development. Most recently Gremlich was President, Castle & Cooke Resorts, LLC, with responsibility supervising two five star destination resorts as well as all private home real estate sales and development. His career covers multiple disciplines and global work experience. Ed has worked for both independent hotel companies and major chain operators including Hilton International, Intercontinental, CDL Hotels and Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, as well as 27 years of service with ITT Sheraton. Jon Rickards is a Managing Director of the T.R. ENGEL Group and is TRE's sales and marketing specialist. Jon started his career with the Hyatt Corporation and has since been involved with the sales and marketing of every type of hotel asset, from select service to Five-Star luxury resorts. Later he joined the Wesley Hotel Group as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and then Kinseth Hospitality, where he headed sales and marketing for this 27 hotel, 17 restaurant hospitality company. Jon has an MBA from the University of Memphis and is a former U.S. Air Force pilot and decorated Vietnam veteran. Mary Ann Salerno Engel is a Senior Vice President of the T.R.ENGEL Group where she heads the market and hotel research team that produces each TRE Market and Hotel Analysis. She also heads TRE's newly-created project management service, bringing 20 years' experience in spearheading large-scale projects, special exhibitions and special events for the Museum of Science, Boston, the New England Flower Show, and other institutions. She has a keen eye for aesthetics and product design quality and holds a B.A. and M.A. in Art History with graduate studies at Harvard University and The Museum of Fine Arts Boston. She spends her spare time with her therapy dog, Bella, visiting senior residences and hospitals. Kimberly A. Sullivan is a Vice President of the T.R. ENGEL Group with primary responsibility for expanding and leading TRE's advisory services business, as well supporting TRE's asset management service. Ms. Sullivan brings to TRE17 years of diversified lodging operations and financial experience. Previously Ms. Sullivan worked seven years as an asset manager at AEW Capital Management with its Hospitality Group. She began her career with Starwood Hotels and Resorts (successor to Sheraton Hotels & Resorts), where she held various financial and operations positions. Peg joined the T.R.ENGEL Group LLC, bringing 15 years of diversified financial, management and organizational experience to the team. She is responsible for TRE internal finance and accounting, as well as contract review and support. Meg Heim, Associate Meg Heim has joined the T.R.ENGEL Group, LLC, as Analyst with responsibilities for supporting the Advisory Services and Asset Management teams. She has gained operational experience working for a number of international hotel companies and has studied in both Berlin and London. Meg holds a bachelors of science in Hospitality Administration from Boston University's School of Hospitality. Anthony Tracy, Analyst Anthony Tracy joined the T.R. ENGEL Group, LLC as an Analyst and is responsible for supporting the Asset Management and newly formed Investment teams. Previously, he worked for a boutique investment bank and capital raising firm. Anthony graduated with Honors from Hamilton College and has attended the Tuck Business Bridge program. |
